OUR STORY

About The Henderson Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1987 and celebrating its 40th season, the Henderson Symphony Orchestra now plays a leading role in Southern Nevada’s musical life. The orchestra is unique in the variety of performances it offers and the audiences it serves.

The orchestra’s Masterworks Series offers outstanding performances of the core symphonic repertoire, along with new works, and collaborations with noted soloists and partners such as the Las Vegas Mastersingers and Vegas City Opera. Masterworks concerts are most often performed in Artemis W. Ham Concert Hall, on the campus of UNLV.

Free concerts of light classics are performed by the orchestra and its chamber ensembles at various locations throughout Henderson and Las Vegas. Special performances, often free of charge, include an annual holiday concert, live movie performances, and an annual young artist’s concerto competition. The orchestra annually performs Concert4Kids for thousands of Clark County school children.

This varied program allows the HSO to serve not only dedicated devotees of classical music but also those discovering symphonic music for the first time. The orchestra’s sponsors and donors allow it to keep ticket prices reasonable and offer free concerts that have broad appeal to families and young people.

The orchestra’s Artistic Advisor and Conductor is Taras Krysa; Tyler Gordon is the Assistant Conductor, Julie C. Williams is the Director of Operations and Taylor Crawford is the orchestra’s Personnel Manager.
